FLOAT YOUR FANNY DOWN THE GANNY

Please note that Float your Fanny Down the Ganny has been cancelled for 2020.

The Ganaraska River is a source of both pride and historic destruction in Port Hope. The Great Flood of 1980 crippled the town, a truly harrowing experience for every member of the community. With the reconstruction of what could be salvaged of the town, a tradition was born commemorating the flood and the resilience of the Port Hope community; Float Your Fanny Down The Ganny.

You have the option to spectate or participate and your mode of transportation is up to you; kayaks, canoes, and most entertaining, the Crazy Crafts. Be prepared for the frigid waters, the raging rapids and the portage around Corbett’s Dam.

Centered around the finish area at Barrett Street Bridge is Fannyville, the perfect spot to watch the race, enjoy live music, food and drink vendors, and activities, and only a short walk up the street is the entrance to the Downtown area where many local businesses are featuring specials and limited-time offers for Float Your Fanny Weekend.

Whether you choose to watch and cheer on the contestants or build your own and challenge the mighty Ganaraska River yourself, come experience Port Hope and everything there is to offer.
