This fall, the streets of Port Hope come alive with ghostly charm, eerie fun, and frightful festivities for all ages. Bone-chilling screenings of the locally-shot IT movies, downtown trick-or-treating, haunted tours, and spooky window displays will all give you goosebumps! There’s something lurking around every corner. Join us as we celebrate the magic, mystery, and mischief of autumn in Port Hope.

Fall Fare

Homegrown gourds, locally made Halloween accessories, and fresh-brewed, bewitching beers - you'll never run out of retailers to browse. 

Farmers Market 

Bundle up and spend a leisurely Saturday morning (8am-1pm) at our Farmer's Market behind Town Hall, where you can pick up art, crafts and one-of-a-kind finds alongside your fruits and veggies!

Locals and visitors alike will have plenty to enjoy all October-long!

Port Hope Spooktacular

Come dressed in your costume and participate in a variety of FREE Halloween-themed activities, crafts, and games for all ages. Join us on October 25 from 1-4pm for the Spooktacular at the Town Park Recreation Centre. See further details on the Municipal website.

Port Hope Youth Dance

Come dressed to the Town Park Recreation Centre from 7-10pm on October 24 in your eerie costume, dance the night away, costume contest, snacks and more. 

Ages 12+.

Pre-registration is encouraged but tickets will be sold at the door.

IT Walking Tour

Port Hope has some serious spooky cred. Gather your horror fan friends for a Self-Guided IT Walking Tour, highlighting all your favourite Port Hope filming locations from the IT movie franchise. 

Pumpkin Parade

Critical Mass Art will be celebrating the 7th Annual Pumpkin Parade in downtown Port Hope. Every November 1, locals and visitors can drop off their pumpkins with Critical Mass for an incredible line-up of fiendish artistry.

Downtown Trick-or-Treat

Trick-or-Treat Night is a perennial favourite for Port Hope littles. This year’s HBIA event will take place on October 24 from 5-7pm. A list of participating downtown businesses and map will be available at downtownporthope.com.

PHPL Haunted Hub

Join the Port Hope Public Library up at the Hub in Canton for their second annual Haunted Hub event! They will have a family dance party and photo booth set up in the mezzanine area as well as some sweet treats! Join them October 28 from 5:30-7.

Ghouly Goat Spectacular

Haute Goat hosts a magical weekend where goats, crafts, and creative Halloween fun come together in spook-tacular style, October 25-26! Costumes encouraged. Learn more on their events page.

Duke's Pet Foods IT-themed Scavenger Hunt

Running for the entire month of October, join Duke's for a spooky and fun IT-themed Scavenger Hunt. Learn all the details on their social media.

Wesleyville Ghostly Visit

Games, haunted forest walk, snacks, marshmallow roast, and more ghoulish fun!

October 25 from 6-8pm at the historic Wesleville Village Schoolhouse. Learn all the details on the website.

Halloween Free Skate sponsored by Leca Family

For the truly fearless, Port Hope has extra-spooky experiences to test your courage. These scarier, more grown-up events are best for adults.

IT Screenings

Port Hope Tourism is proud to be screening Port Hope's favourite horror classics, the 2017 IT on October 5th at 7pm and 2019 IT: Chapter 2 on October 12th at 7pm. Both movies feature prominent Port Hope landmarks and have given Port Hope the unofficial moniker of "the real Derry, Maine." Get your tickets soon at capitoltheatre.com.

Vintage Film Festival

Catch all the classics at the Annual Vintage Film Festival at the Capitol Theatre. While the program is "unusually light-hearted" this year, you can still enjoy old fashioned thrillers like Freaks (1932) and The Night of the Hunter (1955)

Halloween Room Boom Dance with Storm the Palace

Port Hope Lions Hall 29 Thomas Street 8:00pm-1:00am on November 1.

Creepin' It Real

2 Locations. 2 DJs. A first in Port Hope!

Trick or Treating for Adults

TRUNK OR TREAT!

10 cars will compete for scariest of them all. $500 1st prize. We adults get to go car to car trick or treating and Chris Martell will be DJing next to food trucks and photo opps from 5-8 pm 
Then we go to The Ganaraska Hotel for a special guest DJ, Brendan Canning from Broken Social Scene with all vinyl 80s Disco Party.

$35 ticket with every $5 going to Fare Share Food Bank. Get your tickets online.

IT: Welcome to Derry Canadian Premiere

Rumour has it that October 29 will feature a red-carpet event at the Capitol Theatre to screen brand new episodes of IT: Welcome to Derry. Stay tuned for more details coming soon.
