Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny is a 10km race along the Ganaraska River to commemorate the 1980 flood that devastated Port Hope's downtown area, and celebrate the community spirit and resilience that rose in the face of this natural disaster.
Centered around the finish area at Barrett Street Bridge and Cavan Street, Fannyville, the event village offers family-focused entertainment and activities, as well as the chance to watch the participants float over the last rapids section of the course with live commentary. Spectators and visitors will be able to enjoy food from one of the many vendors along the banks, or take a short walk to shopping, restaurants or bars.
Those looking to brave the frigid waters of the Ganaraska this spring are invited to visit the event website to register a vessel. Race categories include canoe, kayak and crazy craft. www.floatyourfanny.ca
